Cologne, 31th August 2026
With coparion's fund term scheduled to end on 31 December 2026, coparion GmbH & Co. KG is entering the final realisation phase of its existing portfolio. In this context, David Zimmer and Christian Schulte are handing over management to Dr. Jan Schroeder-Hohenwarth. The shareholders – the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, KfW Capital and the European Investment Bank (EIB) – expressly thank David Zimmer and Christian Schulte for their long-standing commitment and their successful work in building coparion and developing its investment portfolio. David Zimmer co-founded coparion and has led the company from day one; Christian Schulte has been with the company since its early days and, as managing director, has played a key role in shaping and the development of both coparion and its portfolio. Together, they have built an attractive portfolio of innovative technology companies and established coparion as a recognised co-investor in the German venture capital market. Launched in 2016 with a fund volume of EUR 275 million, coparion has since financed more than 50 technology companies alongside private investors and helped mobilise more than EUR 1.5 billion of private capital for its portfolio companies.

"We built coparion from the very beginning and created a strong portfolio that is now moving into its final realisation phase as planned. For us, this is the right moment to hand over responsibility. Our special thanks go to the team, our co-investors and, above all, the founders we have had the privilege of working with for ten years. We are proud of what we have achieved together and will now turn to new entrepreneurial endeavours," say David Zimmer and Christian Schulte.

Responsibility for the further realisation of the existing portfolio will be assumed by Dr. Jan Schroeder-Hohenwarth. The final realisation phase will focus on the value-oriented realisation of the investments.

Day-to-day operations and support for coparion's existing portfolio companies will continue without interruption. The portfolio built by David Zimmer and Christian Schulte together with the team provides a strong foundation for continued value development and the successful realisation of the portfolio.

About coparion: coparion is a co-investment fund launched by KfW and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, which invests together with private lead investors in young, technology-oriented companies.
